What are PDO threads and cogs?

Polydioxanone (PDO) threads have been in use for many years in the medical field for the closure of wounds both externally and internally. The material is completely dissolvable over a period of time making it perfect for internal treatments.

After the application of anaesthetic, extremely fine needles containing the PDO threads are inserted under the skin to deliver an immediate lifting effect and stimulate the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid to further enhance the effects of the treatment.

What is the PDO Thread Lift?

Thread Lift is a minimally invasive procedure, used to tighten sagging skin around the face and upper neck. The Thread Lift Face procedure utilizes small threads made from polydioxanone (PDO), the same material used to create dissolving sutures. The threads are inserted under the skin and are used to manually reposition the skin to create a very natural looking, tightening effect. What makes thread Lift so effective is the presence of tiny barbs that protrude along the entire length of thread. When the thread is pulled, the soft barbs latch onto the tissues and skin, to pull on the entire area. Because no single point sustains the brunt of the pulling, the resulting lift is very uniform, and the treatment area looks smooth and natural.  Also, as the PDO threads are very soft, you will not be able to feel them under your skin.

Are there any side effects?
